December 21...Santa is hitching them UP!

Years ago we always had a party on the 23rd of December, kind of a closer to the office/ego bashes being thrown around town. Small mob would gather at our bunker, drink whatever that was left over from parties they had thrown, eat whatever we had in the kitchen, enjoy the fire and sigh. Most folks sat in the floor (a very good sign your party is laid back) and most hung around until the moon started to set. In the beginning the conversation was about travel. Everyone was juggling Christmas day between their own home, two sets of parents and then that night various drop ins at friends. Later that same relaxed chatter focused on the Ho Ho day run to the parents, after going over to the kids new homes. Toward the end it was all about giant gatherings at the parents featuring the kids, grand kids and various in and out laws who joined the tribe over the years.

Today there is no 23rd party, most parents are either living with us or dead and those folks who had kids are visiting them out of state. Full circle I guess, but I do miss the old 23rd fire and friends.

Now...we DID get to celebrate the aging of our Maryville High School Class of 1966 this week! Posted are a few of the pictures from our first Christmas party..the women in this class were always outstanding and as we get older they sure do look better than the guys.

Have a great one!

Reportedly the coldest night of the year is headed our way. The weather dudes and dudetts are saying temperatures will start dropping in about three minutes and by dark all timbers will be shivering.

Sounds like the perfect day to post some SUMMER PICTURES!

PS
Be sure to double click the picture of the pool and check out the YELLOW swim
suit!

OK, the deal is simple...this house is a very natural Ho Ho house. LIVE (well it was when it was cut) greenery, live (see above) wreaths and a portion of a live tree. At one dang time we had a floor to ceiling live tree but the dawgs kept drinking it dry..so now we have a live TOP of a tree on a table. Don't knock it, keeps the dawgs out of the pan and more room for gifts.

B U T this year there was this big donkey sale at Home..(you know the place where it takes an hour to find a 2X4 that will lay flat in the bed of the truck) where they had all this fake junk at 50% off.

Long story even longer the fake wreath with 100 white lights jumped into the car, along with the fake little trees. Problem was the front porch had junk on it from 1999, so after a truck and a trailer load of whatever to the big store..the front porch is clean and the fake wreath is up! Stay tuned for the fake trees.

Denver the wonder dawg and I took a walk down to the river the evening before the big drop in temperature. Fog was really nice off the water and the light in the trees really did get our attention. Hope you enjoy this Little River evening as much as we did.
