December 21...Santa is hitching them UP!

Years ago we always had a party on the 23rd of December, kind of a closer to the office/ego bashes being thrown around town. Small mob would gather at our bunker, drink whatever that was left over from parties they had thrown, eat whatever we had in the kitchen, enjoy the fire and sigh. Most folks sat in the floor (a very good sign your party is laid back) and most hung around until the moon started to set. In the beginning the conversation was about travel. Everyone was juggling Christmas day between their own home, two sets of parents and then that night various drop ins at friends. Later that same relaxed chatter focused on the Ho Ho day run to the parents, after going over to the kids new homes. Toward the end it was all about giant gatherings at the parents featuring the kids, grand kids and various in and out laws who joined the tribe over the years.

Today there is no 23rd party, most parents are either living with us or dead and those folks who had kids are visiting them out of state. Full circle I guess, but I do miss the old 23rd fire and friends.

Now...we DID get to celebrate the aging of our Maryville High School Class of 1966 this week! Posted are a few of the pictures from our first Christmas party..the women in this class were always outstanding and as we get older they sure do look better than the guys.

Have a great one!
